diamond. The Four C’s are nothing but the Cut, the Clarity, the Colour and the Carat of the diamond in question. These categories are what jewellers look at while grading a diamond. So what do these categories actually mean? Let’s find out.
Cut:
The cut of the diamond used in your engagement ring is the most important category when it comes to selecting your diamond engagement ring as the brilliance of your rock depends on its cut. A well cut diamonds will always have the angle and the finish which allows it to handle light well thus having more brilliance. If a diamond is not well cut the light leaks out from the bottom or the sides rather than reflecting back which means less sparkle and brilliance.
Clarity:
The clarity of the diamond in an engagement ring refers to the number and the size of inclusions or inner flaws that a diamond has. These inclusions or inner flaws occur during the formation of the diamond. Diamonds that are clear and have maximum clarity gives you maximum brilliance. This is also one of the factors which determine the price of diamonds. The diamonds are graded according to the clarity that they have. While inclusions in clarity grades F to SI are not visible to the naked eye, it is not advisable to buy diamonds rated I1-I2-I3 due to the inner flaws and inclusions present in the rock.
Colour:
The colour of the diamond is the most desirable factor when it comes to buying engagement rings especially since it affects the sparkle of the rock. In case your engagement ring is set on platinum or white gold it makes sense to opt for a higher colour grade diamond and if it is set on yellow gold it makes sense to opt for a lower colour grade diamond.
Carat:
A carat is the unit of measurement used to measure the weight of the diamond. One carat is equal to 200 milligrams. Large sized diamonds have a greater carat value and are very rare which is why the cost of these diamonds is also high.
So these are the Four C’s that you have to keep in mind while selecting your beautiful diamond engagement rings.
Choosing the ideal engagement rings is an easy task if got your four c’s right.
